Educational community initiative launched in 2021 to engage the next generation in marine science through the creative process and technology.
In Summer of 2021, Canvas of the Wild designed and installed an interactive 1,000 sq. foot mural on iPrep Academy with the goal of engaging K-12 children through an immersive artistic and digital experience. In partnership with the Oceanic Preservation Society and Shark Allies, Canvas of the Wild supported the introduction of new marine science resources to teachers and experiences for students. The project utilizes our online knowledgebase through physical touchpoints that connect a learner to more information about key species featured in the pelagic mural.
The mural also quotes the late Kristin Jacobs and her work to protect our oceans and facilitate education for future generations. In September of 2020, The Kristin Jacobs Ocean Conservation Act banned the importation and sale of shark fins in Florida, helping to protect our fragile marine ecosystem.
